JN's Biology ("we", "us", or "our") is a Biology coaching institute owned and operated by Jagatananda Satapathy (sole proprietor), based in Cuttack, Odisha. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information about you when you visit our website (jnsbiology.com) or use our student and admin portal.

For the purposes of applicable Indian data protection law, the data fiduciary is Jagatananda Satapathy (Proprietor, JN's Biology). Our website and portal run on a shared technology platform operated by our technology provider; your data is processed on secure infrastructure located in India.

1. Information We Collect

a. Information you provide directly

  • Enquiry form — name, phone number, email address, course interest, and any message you submit.
  • Student registration — name, email address, student code, and course/batch enrolment details.
  • Admin / Staff accounts — name and email address.

b. Google Sign-In

When you choose "Sign in with Google," we receive your Google account name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We do not receive your Google password. This data is used solely to authenticate you and link your account.

c. Usage data

We may collect standard analytics such as pages visited, time spent, and device/browser type through privacy-respecting tools. This data is aggregated and not linked to individual identities.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to admission or course enquiries.
  • To create and manage your student or staff account.
  • To authenticate you securely via password or Google Sign-In.
  • To send announcements, timetable updates, and result notifications.
  • To improve our teaching programmes and website experience.
  • To send account-related emails (e.g. password resets).

We process your information on the basis of your consent (and, for students under 18, the consent of a parent or guardian). We never sell, rent, or share your personal data for marketing purposes.

3. Google OAuth — Specific Disclosures

Our use of information received from Google APIs (including Google Sign-In) adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

  • We request only the minimum necessary OAuth scopes: email and profile.
  • We do not store your Google access tokens beyond the current session.
  • We do not use Google profile data for any purpose other than authentication and account creation.
  • We do not transfer Google user data to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers hosted in India. We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and token-based authentication (JWT). Access to personal data is restricted to authorised staff only.

5. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for authentication (e.g. session tokens). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Disabling cookies may prevent login from working.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. After you request deletion (or after a reasonable period following account closure), we delete or anonymise your data within 30 days, except where law requires us to retain certain records.

7. Children's Privacy (Students Under 18)

Our programmes are intended for students preparing for NEET and +2 Biology, many of whom are under 18. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, a "child" is any person under 18.

  • For any student under 18, we process personal data only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
  • We do not use children's data for behavioural tracking, profiling, or targeted advertising.
  • A parent or guardian may review, correct, or request deletion of their child's data via the contact in Section 12.

8. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may: access the data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; request deletion; withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing); revoke Google Sign-In at myaccount.google.com/permissions; and raise a grievance about how your data is handled.

9. Data Breach

In the event of a personal data breach, we will take prompt remedial action and notify affected individuals and the relevant authority where required by law.

10. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 (and its rules) and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in Cuttack, Odisha.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users by email or in-app notice of material changes. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent revision.
